Fall Décor Guest Post

Today, we have a fall décor guest post from Latoya! Smile

Welcome!

I didn't do the traditional Fall décor this year because I am simply cheap.  I didn’t have an attic or closet with all of the latest fall pretties so unfortunately I was left on the other side of the fence when everyone started sharing their fall decor tricks this season.  I sort of felt left out and wanted to participate bad but the thriftiness and cheapness in me wouldn't allow me to ponder over the should have, could haves, and would haves this time. Next year I hope to be prepared by scouring the thrift stores and clearance at the end of this season but in the meantime I took an untraditional route to fall décor when I stumbled upon these at the Goodwill this weekend….

books

I picked up these Reader Digest books for a whopping 50 cents each!  I loved all of the colors and how they coordinated with some of the colors already in the crib and they also had the “traditional” fall colors.  I took this as an opportunity to inject a little more color into my space even if it is temporarily.  The best part is that I could always use scrapbook are some other paper and change them through the different seasons but for now they work just fine. Ignore the attempt at creating a pretty shelf vignette…I am so not through, especially with the remote box (I hate the color).

books1 I also had found a few lovely inspiring photos that persuaded me to put books under my lamps…it’s not working the way I wanted it too…but again, I love the color so they are still there for the moment.

Now if you are unimpressed with my fall book decorating here is what I did for my kitchen table.  I was inspired by a blog friend of mine Brandi who created this marvelous stick vase using a spaghetti jar.  I made mine with a can that was lurking around the kitchen.  I plan to spray paint it in the future but I used what I had so I could get into the fall spirit…

Yeah, I like the pumpkins and flowers the best as well!Smile

I hope you have enjoyed and that you have been inspired to do a little fall decorating even if you don’t have all the goodies in the attic!

Thanks so much Latoya!
